Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that specializes in correcting the position of the teeth and jaws. Having orthodontic treatment performed can lead to a healthier mouth, a more attractive smile, and teeth that are more likely to last for a lifetime. Dr. Claudia Torok can determine whether or not you need orthodontic treatment during an exam. If you have any of the following types of malocclusion, you may benefit from orthodontics in Los Angeles, California:

Overbite

Overbite, which is sometimes referred to as “buck teeth,” happens when the upper front teeth sit too far in front of the lower teeth.

Crossbite

A crossbite happens when the upper front teeth do not sit slightly in front of the lower front teeth when one bites together.

Underbite

An underbite manifests as lower front teeth that sit in front of the upper teeth. This occurs when the lower teeth sit too far forward or the upper teeth are positioned too far back.

Open Bite

In an open bite, there is space between the biting surfaces of the side or front teeth when the back teeth are together.

Crowding

Crowded teeth are too close together. This can cause crooked teeth.

Spacing

In some cases, there are gaps or spaces between the teeth because of missing teeth or another problem.

Misplaced Midline

This happens when the center of the upper front teeth does not line up with the center of the lower front teeth.
